Smart Numbers
Smartnumbers or “phonewords” are 13/1300/1800 telephone numbers that include a word which can spell something on your telephone keypad, e.g. 1300 BUSINESS (1300 287463). These numbers are allocated through an on-line auction system by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) on behalf of the Government.
Smartnumbers enhance your marketing as the number is related to your business.
To obtain a SMARTnumber you have to nominate the number on the SMARTnumber website, generally the public reserve price on these numbers is $500. If you are the only one interested in this number you
may obtain it for the public reserve price however if someone else wants it,the price will be set by the market.
The online auction process involves registering on their site and nominating the number you want.
